Thank you for dedicating your time to help out. LAN would also like to thank Peter Wright & Kent Ballan who gave up their time to run the event. The event runs for 6 hours commencing at 6:00am and finishing at 12:00 noon. It is expected that all athletes will participate throughout the course of the morning. We would like to encourage athletes to arrive as early as possible and we would particularly encourage the athletes in older age groups to be at the track at 6:00am to commence the running. Any athlete arriving and participating before 7:30am will be given a breakfast voucher that they can redeem for breakfast at the barbeque. The format is a continuous relay around the inside lane of the track with the baton changing to a new runner every 100 metres. There cannot be any break in running from the commencement at 6:00am through until the conclusion at 12:00 noon. From 9:00am through until 12:00 noon we will schedule age groups through the relay with all age groups participating, however athletes can join in at additional times if they have no events in progress. We would greatly appreciate assistance from parents on the day who are not already on designated duty, to assist with the change over points and lap scoring. We will be providing hourly updates through to LAVic who will be consolidating total laps completed from right around the State. LAVic have a range of awards they will be granting for various achievements by centres. There will also be an award for the athlete who raises the most money in the State. Provided here are links to 2 documents. The first is a PARENT LETTER with details of the event and the other document is a SPONSOR FORM for you to get as many sponsors as you can between now and next Saturday. Sponsorship can be in the form of an upfront donation or a per lap amount. An upfront donation is easier in so far as there is no need to return to the sponsor after the event to collect the money. Please do your best to collect as much sponsorship as you can for this very worthy cause. The date parents need to return the form with Money from sponsors is by Dec 3rd. however where possible we would appreciate money being returned at the earliest possible convenience. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact Scott Tempany who will be coordinating the event. Scott can be contacted by email at t.tempany@optusnet.com.au or by phone at either 9802 7962 or 0415 509 567. 4 November 2011 U10 Girls Age Group Manager Parents, at the moment our U10 Girls are without an age group manager. This makes it extremely difficult to coordinate a program for them and be certain that all girls get to do their events. We need to get an age group manager for these girls urgently! If you are the parent of an U10 girl or even if you are not and are willing to take on the job, our Age Group Manager Coordinator, Claire Seeley would love to hear from you. Claire can be contacted by email at seeleymc@gmail.com or by phone at either 9802 5875 or 0438 392 919. Hoping you can help. 4 November 2011
New Nunawading Centre UniformThis season we have a stylish new Centre uniform design. The photo at left shows both our new uniform (left) and the old uniform (right). For athletes representing the centre at the upcoming relay events at Box Hill and all future Region or State level competitions, it is mandatory that one of these uniforms be worn. For athletes who already have one of the old uniforms, there is a grace period of 2 years during which they may continue to be worn. This means up to the start of the 2013/14 season. For athletes who do not have an old top or would like one of the new design, these are available at a cost of $30.00. Please see Peta Turner who will be selling the new tops from this Saturday forward. 21 October 2011 First Combined Meet this Saturday Morning Javelin at 8:00am for U11's and above A big thank you again to all parents and officials for their assistance last Saturday. With some key people away it was great to see others willingly step in and fill the gaps. This Saturday will be our first combined meet and with the potential for 500+ athletes to be competing, it is inevitable that there will be some teething problems. I am confident however that with everyones good will and good humour that we will have a successful meet. Please remember that your assistance is still very much required to ensure we are able to run as many events as possible. If you see a gap please fill it. If you hear an announcement calling for assistance somewhere please don't sit back and hope someone else will do it. If you have a helpful suggestion to make please by all means put it forward. We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow and hopefully the weather permits us to get a full morning of events completed. 12 October 2011 State Multi-Event Championships 2011 Entries are now open for this event for athletes U9 and above. A special thank you to all officials, age group managers and parent helpers who pitched in to make the day a success. Given we were at a different facility with reduced numbers and other complications, I think the afternoon ran as smoothly as we could have hoped. I know that Claire our Program Coordinator would like more parent helpers to make themselves available to help, so please don't sit back. We need your participation to ensure your child is able to get in as many events as possible at a meet. Make sure your assistance with duties is noted by your club. Unless you assist with duty the requisite number of times, your child may be ineligible for awards at the end of the season. We have another afternoon meet this Saturday 15th October 12:30pm.
